Sherberton Jollytime and Morgan - A New Partnership?

Yes, little Maud could have a new jockey, a lot smaller and lighter than me!

My niece Morgan has a pony but unfortunately her pony is "too safe", in other words it doesn't move. I had one of those types of pony too, but she had an excuse - a gammy stifle joint. But in the hunting field, you wouldn't know she had any sort of problem until there was a fence to jump, then she' start looking for the gate!

Sadly, riding her pony at Pony Club, Morgan was unable to participate fully as the pony wouldn't keep up with the others, wouldn't pop over poles, wouldn't trot or canter and so from what I gather, she was being ignored by the instructor and that made her feel useless and very unhappy.

My Mother on the other hand was furious, and offered Maud for Pony Club rallies. So on Sunday before last, I took Maud over for Morgan to try, to find out what it feels like to ride a completely different type of pony to the one she already has, to ride a forward going, fast paced pony with a jaunty gait. (A gait with which she managed to jigger my back last Saturday!)

Last Tuesday night at Pony Club was a great success. With a new instructor, Morgan riding Maud led the ride in turns, led over the poles, cantered when asked to, did all the things that everyone else in the group were doing and so was a part of the ride. They were included. Big smiles all round - and that included my Mother!

Yesterday, I took Maud and Morgan out for a 3 to 4 mile hack, so that Morgan could have more time to get to know Maud, how she feels to ride and vice a versa and become more confident too.

Guess what?

It rained.

Next Pony Club Rally is Tuesday 6th March ..... hope the second outing is as successful as the first.

Below are a few photos I took yesterday.

Ideas for promoting Spike Multimedia.

Today I have been working on an idea to help promote Spike Multimedia. I've been designing a card to post out to existing clients and to perhaps some new businesses too. On the back of the card, I've written a brief description of filming the MOD on the Isle of Lewis last October, plus how Spike can assist in digital solutions, i.e. Web Design, email flyers and newsletters as well as video production. This may go out as a email flyer instead of a physical post card.

Just an idea.

Party, Party, Party untill it's 2012

Happy New Year + Best Wishes for 2012.

Chris and I had a fantastic break over Christmas. Everyone has been so kind and generous. Every day we were out either to lunch or dinner. The weather on the other hand, was absolutely horrendous with torrential rain and high winds for almost two weeks. More slates came off my roof. I rode out once with Jacqui on Christmas Eve and not again until this Sunday just past - we got soaked!

So all this gallivanting you would think I had lots of pictures - Oh dear, although I took my camera everywhere I forgot to use it! So I only have a few pictures of our outings and NONE of Christmas Day. Shame on me.

I managed to get all my presents made on Christmas eve, but did some frantic sewing on Christmas Day morning! Must try and remember to take photo of my efforts and post them.

Our Boxing Day night dinner went well, all the food was eaten, but I did have some rice left over which I gave to the dogs and hens the next day. As you can see from the first picture, my brother got a gigantic chainsaw from Dad and Mum, which I think has been in constant use last week as so many trees have fallen down.

A few days later it was my 50th birthday. I had organised a walk round the Greenock cut, but the road was washed away along with two bridges, so plan B was a walk up Brisbain Glen in Largs. On the day, my family and a few brave friends and loads of dogs joined me to walk only as far as the Needle! Lizzy and Alastair met up with us in the car park, but had other things to do! The weather was just atrocious! We laughed, struggled to breath and got very, very wet and very cold. When we returned to the car park, it was decided to go into Nardini's for coffee and heat! We did have our picnic but at Tandlehill in front of the fire!

I had a absolutely brilliant day.

For Hogmanay, Chris and I had dinner at Michael and Bozena's, along with Mum and Dad. Michael is a very good cook, and he produced two legs of lamb, which just melted in your mouth. After dinner, all the dogs, cats and kittens were allowed to join the party - bedlam but fun.

I'm puffed out!
